About This Spot
Stepping into Happier Grocery feels a little like uncovering a secret trove tucked into the lively rhythm of New York’s bustling Canal Street. It’s not your everyday grocery stop; here, the atmosphere hums with an inviting mix of curiosity and care. The space is thoughtfully layered across two floors, where the energetic flow of shoppers and explorers blends with glimpses of the unexpected — from vibrant salad bars to shelves stocked with rare and carefully sourced ingredients.
The pace inside is unhurried yet purposeful, as visitors navigate aisles brimming with artisan foods, unique pantry finds, and even a selection of beauty and wellness items that nod to a holistic approach to everyday living. It’s a place for those who appreciate quality and a touch of discovery, where grabbing a quick meal or scouting out a special ingredient feels more like a mini adventure than a chore.
While the store can get lively, especially with an eclectic mix of curious locals and wide-eyed visitors, there’s a genuine warmth in the exchanges you catch — whether from the attentive staff downstairs or the aisles sharing space with thoughtfully curated packages. Though some corners might feel a bit exclusive or pricier than your neighborhood markets, the diversity of goods and the care behind them invite a slower, more mindful kind of shopping.
Happier Grocery is not just about filling a basket; it’s a quiet invitation to explore the intersection of health, taste, and lifestyle in a neighborhood that never quite stops moving. Such a cute spot with an amazing salad bar and unique beauty finds although does err a bit ‘woo woo’. The staff downstairs were so helpful and friendly but the checkout staff were rude and miserable, nothing happy about them.

The food is clean and very good. The only issue I have is some pricing is absolutely ridiculous. Like the 21.99 wild caught tuna wrap. The protein soft serve was great. I think it's a good place just some prices are overpriced.

This is a grocery store to buy hard to access items. They sell nuts, milks, chocolates, chips, coffee drinks, apparel, cheeses and so forth. Very few items overlap with pantry of whole foods, but those which do - the price point for most products is about $1-3 higher than whole foods. To give a sense of fanciness - the examples of items in each category are pistachio kernels, pistachio milk, sake chocolates, rose flavored potato chips. This shop is not for the masses. It is for people with a certain taste and preferences which demands a high purchasing power. I would recommend a visit to simply browse and pick a few items for novelty. Fruits, and veggies are reasonably priced. They also have a coffee bar. They also sell jackets which claim to protect against electromagnetic waves. The best and perhaps most useful item is Raw milk. They have partnered with Amish dairy and sell A2 raw milk and other dairy products on pre-order and pickup only basis. Overall, a very cool grocery store with high quality, unique products.

This place gets a lot of hype online and it’s definitely elevated from your typical NYC bodega but it’s still just a grocery store. Kind of a cross between Whole Foods, Erewhon, and a foodie boutique, it’s worth a look. Plenty of items to choose from on to levels including self care, grab and go food and pantry essentials. The store definitely gets crowded - mostly with tourists and browsers. Prices are high but they are pretty much everywhere.

Although the prices are bit expensive you get variety of great healthy food options.... I tried thier packed salad, sushi and hot food and everything was excellent
